February 2014 Theme - Daring Greatly to be Great
[Source book: Daring Greatly: How the Courage to Be Vulnerable Transforms the Way We Live, Love, Parent, and Lead by Brené Brown]
Following last month’s exploration of being Big for God, this month we go deeper into what that means for us individually and what it will take for us to step into that bigger, more expanded expression of the Divine our heart is calling us to be.
Grounded in modern science (brought forth by Brené Brown of TED.com fame) as well as ancient spiritual wisdom, this month we take a deep dive into the one quality of human existence that can open us up to our Divine Greatness or close us off from it. That quality is the willingness to be vulnerable. Come find out what this might mean for you – that is, if you dare to be great!
February Talk 1 – “Wholehearted Living”
This morning, we dip our toes into the waters of vulnerability by exploring what it means to live wholeheartedly – not half heartedly. What does that look like? What does that take? And what does vulnerability have to do with it? Dare to be with us this morning as we ponder these and other questions!
February Talk 2 – “Dare to Create Great Love”
Why is love sometimes so confusing? Maybe it's because there are different kinds of love and sometimes we get them mixed up. What type of love are you living? Are you completely satisfied with the love in your life, or does your heart and soul ache with longing for a more deeply-connected, intimate love? This morning the daring secret to creating great love is revealed.
February Talk 3 – “From Myth to Magic”
Being vulnerable has gotten a lot of bad press both externally and internally, but this morning we move from the myths behind being vulnerable into the magic that happens when we are willing to be! [MINISTERS’ NOTE: Prearrange a congregant to speak briefly about an empowering, positive experience they had with being vulnerable. They will speak at the end of the talk.]
February Talk 4 – “Dropping the Shield”
The things we do to keep us shielded from feeling vulnerable are the exact things that keep us shielded from fully experiencing life and being who we came here to be. Today, we peel away the armor and dare greatly to be great!
I dare greatly to be great. With strength and courage to be vulnerable, I live my big life for God!
